Exterior Demolition

The process of taking apart parts of or the entirety of the exterior portions of a structure, usually in preparation for rot repairs, siding repairs, or decking repairs. Exterior demolition can also be demolition or removal of landscaping or in preparation for landscaping. Other times, homes and other properties have exterior items that are no longer necessary or no longer usable. Things that take up yard space and create an eyesore may need to be removed. An old shed or damaged pavement falls into this last category. Briggs Contracting has extensive and varied experience with exterior demolition of all kinds, having refined our skills focusing on the many demo projects in Houston following Hurricane Harvey. Trust the experts who have seen it all at Briggs Contracting.

Some of the exterior demolition projects that we do are listed here. If you have an exterior demolition project that you do not see listed, give us a call. We can handle just about any type of demo work, but this list may help you to better understand what you need.

Total Building Demolition

When demolition is done, most people think it is because a home is no longer habitable due to age. In fact, many times a home needs to be demolished due to damage from a storm, abandonment, or other damage. Older homes may contain harmful asbestos, lead, and mercury and can cause serious health risks. There might even be rotten or weak sections that are in danger of failing, leading to an uncontrolled collapse. If your building poses a health, safety, or environmental risk, a demolition can prevent costly or even fatal accidents. If you have a piece of land that you want to clear a building from, we can come in and safely demolish the entire building and safely remove the remnants. We will leave the land in whatever condition you choose, ready for a new structure, or cleared for other uses.

Siding Removal

Home Repairs can be tedious and overwhelming for a typical homeowner. If you have some areas of your home that need old siding removed and replaced or you need all the siding removed from the home, we can take the hassle off your hands and you can be totally sure the job will be done right.

Trailers and Mobile Home Demolition

We evaluate each situation and plan for the proper equipment to safely and efficiently demolish your trailer. If you have a mobile home or trailer that needs to be torn down and removed, we will come in and demo it and remove all debris from the trailer from your property.

Shed or Garage Demolition

An old shed or garage can take up space that is usable and more valuable for other purposes. Structures that are no longer needed or are old and need to be taken down for rebuilding or repurposing is a tasks we have extensive experience with. If a structure you own has outlived its usefulness and occupies a desirable plot of land that you want to use for something else, demolition of those buildings and removal is the answer to your needs.

Swimming Pool Removal

Swimming pools can be expensive to maintain with chemicals, pumps, filters, cleaners, repair, refilling, and the added liability on your insurance. Expensive repairs when a liner tears or the walls crack and crumble from pressure and age may not be the right answer for you. Only if a swimming pool is being used and enjoyed are these costs worth it. If your household dynamics have changed many homeowners end up letting their pool go by simply putting a cover on it or ignoring it. Poorly maintained pools can become a liability for many reasons.

That’s when people decide it is time for the removal of the pool. Conditions can vary according to the condition of the pool. The debris from a swimming pool removal can be extensive and very challenging to remove. Also, certain materials are required to fill in the space afterward. Unlike most contractors, we are fully equipped to remove and fill in old swimming pools no matter the size or shape.

Fence Demolition

Rotting old fences that need to be taken out can be a job you don’t have time for or you may not physically want to do them. We remove and discard fences from your property. Whether you want to replace the fence or leave your land clear, we will leave the property in good shape that meets your requirements.

Concrete Removal

Frost Heaves and other agents of wear and tear can make even well-built walkways and driveways unusable over the years. Have an area that has old uneven concrete patios, and walkways and would like them demolished? Briggs Contracting can take on that project, too. We will remove old concrete and properly discard it, replacing it with whatever you choose.

Asphalt Removal

Taking down the garage and moving the driveway? No problem. We will come in and demolish the pavement, take care of the removal, and finish off the property as you choose.

Rock Wall Removal and Landscaping

If you have a rock wall or other landscaping that is failing and needs repair or removal, we can handle the demolition or restoration of any landscaping. We got our start in landscaping, and we have all the expertise to turn any backyard disaster into a paradise.

Deck Demolition

Decks that are rotting, have compromised anchors, have loose boards, or are sagging can be very, dangerous. If someone falls through your deck or, worse, the entire deck collapses, someone could get seriously hurt or even die. It is better to have the deck removed and replaced when you can than it is to risk major injury and liability. We can take the deck down, clean up, and even rebuild your deck to save you the worry and headache of trying to do it yourself.

How to Demolish an Exterior Structure or Feature

The best way to do exterior demolition is to hire an expert company. All demolition projects should be performed by an experienced, insured company. Often these tasks require heavy equipment. Even simply removing bulky objects can be impossible without the proper equipment. Experience doing demolition projects can be dangerous to obtain the hard way. Rather than risk your home or property, or even risk breaking local laws and regulations, choose an expert who knows the regulations on where and how materials can be disposed of.

We acquire all the proper permits and understand the codes and regulations that need to be followed to perform demolition work safely and legally. We are fully insured and have extensive experience with all kinds of exterior demolition. We have a large variety of tools and heavy equipment to safely and efficiently demolish any unwanted materials, items, or structures you need to get rid of. Once the demolition is done and the debris is removed, we will also leave the property landscaped or prepared for further work in the manner you choose.
