York Historic Home Demolition Contractor

Demolition & Rebuild Services on the Southern Maine Coast

Welcome to York

Briggs Contracting — "The Demo King" — provides demolition and rebuild services in York, one of the oldest chartered towns in the country, with a historic village core and a seasonal tourism economy built around York Beach, York Harbor, and the surrounding coastline.

Between the historic district's permitting requirements and the tight window many properties have for off-season work, a York project calls for a crew that can plan around both.

Built for York's Historic, Seasonal Market

York's village core is one of the largest historic districts in the state, and demolition or renovation projects there often involve additional review — Briggs Contracting handles the permitting process on every job. Many York properties operate as summer rentals, which means demolition and renovation work often needs to happen in the fall, winter, or early spring, between guest seasons.

York Beach, York Harbor, and York Cliffs have a large stock of older shingle-style summer cottages, which require different handling than year-round Colonial construction inland. Properties near the shoreline also see faster wear on decks, siding, and outdoor structures from salt air and direct ocean weather.

Why York Property Owners Choose Briggs Contracting

Briggs Contracting was founded in 2008, with over a decade of experience across Southern Maine's coastal towns. Owner Chaz Briggs managed large-scale demolition in Houston after Hurricane Harvey before bringing that experience home.

York Demolition Questions

Can you work around a property's summer rental schedule?

Yes. Many York properties are used as seasonal rentals, and Briggs Contracting can schedule demolition and rebuild work for the off-season, so the property is ready before the next rental period.

Do you handle projects in York's historic district?

Yes. Briggs Contracting handles the permitting and review process that comes with York's historic district, including its village core and surrounding historic areas.

Can you demolish an older shingle-style cottage without damaging what should stay?

Yes. York Beach and York Harbor have a large stock of older shingle-style seasonal cottages, and Briggs Contracting's crew is experienced working carefully with this type of construction.

Do you handle coastal exposure issues, like worn decks or siding?

Yes. Salt air and direct ocean exposure wear down decks, siding, and outdoor structures faster near the shoreline, and removing and replacing them is a routine part of Briggs Contracting's work.
